New Classes
Last Wednesday night at youth group we started up new classes for the fall semester.  Kadin and Dom are teaching the middle school “How to look more like Jesus.”  I am teaching the high school about eschatology or a study of the end times.  We will focus on the book of Revelation and other apocalyptic literature.  I want to encourage everyone to attend.  Both these studies are worth your time.  We are putting in a lot of preparation work and would love for you to be there to support, participate and learn.  I know everyone had a wonderful time last week, please make plans to attend.

Fall Retreat
Sunday, September 14 is the deadline for the fall retreat if you want to take advantage of the earlier bird special.  It is $55 but after the 14th it will go up to $70.  We need to do this to help plan meals and to work out the transportation.  The theme for the weekend is Half-Hearted, and we have several good teachers lined up to teach.  Groups for Ruidoso, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Cloudcroft will be joining us.  Also, Nate will be coming up  Sunday at Gateway to lead worship services.  I am excited about the Fall retreat, September 19-21.  Please sign up today.  If you are using the UCC app go to events and sign up today!

Puppets
Next Sunday, September 14, is also our last Puppets practice.  We will meet right after 3rd service (I will again provide a meal)  We will start serving food at 12:30 p.m. and start puppet practice at 12:45 – 1:45 p.m.  I hope those involved will be able to make it, I know it is hectic, and we deeply appreciate the extra work that is involved to make this community service project actually happen.  I know it is also a time commitment as well, so I want to say thank you to all
of our puppeteers.  I big shout out to Traci Rede who has been repairing our puppets over the  past several weeks.  She has been a real blessing to keep our puppets in top shape.

Bible Bowl
We started up Bible Bowl this past Sunday from 2-3:15 p.m.  If you are unable to come, you are still eligible until November 2, which is actually a long time, but you will be required to have every meeting after that in order to not miss the competition trips.  All the competition this year is out of town.  We will be going to Flagstaff  on January 24, Mesa Arizona on February 28 and San Antonio TX on March 21.  Please consider being apart of Bible Bowl  We are studying the books of Joshua, Judges and Ruth.  If you did not get a youth Calendar or the schedule for Bible Bowl, they will be posted in the hallway of the youth wing, please pick one up.

Parents Page
If you are not getting text messages from me and would like to start receiving them, please let me know.  You should have received a link about the fall retreat that you can pay online for, or in cash/check.  You missed that link, you can also go to the UCC app and go to events, and it is listed there, and you can pay online if that is more convenient.  The medical release forms are in the youth wing on the bulletin board, but you can also make sure I have an emergency phone number in case I have to reach you.  We will be staying at the Mountain View Christian Camp outside of Ruidoso.  The retreat is September 19-21.  We will return Sunday afternoon after we worship with The Gateway Church.  If you would like to attend, you are more than welcome to help in the kitchen with the food.  I do ask that you pay for your housing only, which is $20 per night per person.   I wish I had the money to cover everyone, but I do not.  Please let me know asap because we are limited on housing.  Thanks for your support, God Bless, David
